About the project:
Reading promoters from all over the world agree: the first contact with books should always be in a familiar language. The demand for bilingual books is enormous. Unfortunately, however, there are very few of them.
The aim of the Bücherpiraten project ‘1001 Sprache – bilingual-picturebooks.org’ is to create a database of bilingual picture book stories by children for children. Reading promoters from all over the world can upload stories by children to the site.
A network of volunteers translates the stories into 1001 languages. As many versions as possible are also recorded as audiobooks.
Families and reading promoters from all over the world can download the stories in any two languages free of charge at www.bilingual-picturebooks.org.
